Walsh Bay Stirs Waterside Food Precinct Takes Shape
Walsh bay is trying to do a Wooloomooloo, kick-starting another wharfside Sydney food precinct. Fresh from catering Nicole Kidman's Christmas drinks party, the team at Cullinary Edge last Friday added another eatery to a stable already includes the MCA Cade when it opened Hickson Road Bistro next door to the new $40 million Sydney Theatre. Cullinary Edge co-owner Charles Wilkins syas he's aiming to ake it "the Macleay Street Bistro of the area". Despite a posse of big names linked to the wharfeside development up the read, resturauntours have so far proved to be no-shows. However, the precinct already has a cafe and, as of lsat weekend, the Firefly Espresso and Wine Bar, owned by Daniel Soto. It is cute, compact and mostly outdoors, with food courtesy of Soto's brother, Pier graduate Olivaer. Expect it to be invaded by the cased-up residents of the surrounding waterside apartments who walk along the strip on the way to their exclusive underwater car park.
